Hi, Could any one let me know the relationship between redo_log buffer_cache and rollback segment. because, before commiting, the data gets stored in a rollback segment of undo tablespace. and simillarly in redolog buffer cache..

- redo logs are used to roll-forward

- rollback segments (undo logs) are used in a roll back recovery

- the buffer cache stored incoming data blocks from disk

Oracle writes data only after it ensures that data can be rolled-back.

This may help: http://www.dba-oracle.com/concepts/t_undo.htm
