Hi!
I'm working on Linux.
DB: Oracle 10g.

I've deleted a datafile in a testing server, and thats why I have no backup. On top of it, I've resently made a RESETLOG and whatever I try to do to recover the datafile it doesn't let me do it due to the resetlog I've done!

I need you help!!

Thanks in advance.

Possibly startup mount, offline the tablespace, starutp, then do whatever you want with the database. Say goodbye to the tablespace.

Without more information about your environment, who knows?

No, that's not why.

You don't have a backup because you neglected to take one.

If the datafile maps to a tablespace wiyth referiential integrity constraints into another tablespace you could have a big mess.

Like Steve says, kiss the tablespace goodbye and drop it.

I guess this time I've learned the lesson... "Always make a complete backup after making a structural change to a database"

Thanks to all of you...

You can always take a "hot" backup:

Did the missing datafile have any data in it? Probably did, but in the off chance it did not, it could be dropped. How many other datafiles are associated with the tablespace/how big are they?

If there is one and not too big, you could used bbed to scrounge data out of it. Or, for a reasonable price, it could be done for you.
