In our production Database,they are taking backup using veritas in the end of the day.The space occupied by the archive log in Disk is quite large.
If any media failure occured,archive log of the day is enough to restore the data or entire archive log backup files are needed?
if the specific log is enough,can we delete the files from the disk?
We are not doing any RMAN backup.

At the time of media failure.
Every end of the day the backup DB is updated.If any media failure occurs in future,we need to update the Backup Db by the transactions occured on the day only.
In this scenario,For update the backup Db ,Can We need only current archive log,or all.
So can we delete the archive log from disk with out backup using RMAN?
Why wouldn't you be using RMAN?
There are several things to consider here. Let's suppose you have a weekly full backup, and daily incrementals. All throughout the week, you have backups taken of archivelogs. Pick a point in time in the past that you want to recover to. Figure you will need the last prior full backup and the archive logs going forward from there (as one way). Would you need archive logs from before the last full backup in this case? When you backup the archive logs, why aren't you deleting from disk? That's your main management issue. I presume you are using a tape backup given you said you are using Veritas.

No, just the archived logs since the last backup.
It's easy to locate and nuke elderly archived redo log, schedule a job to do it with cron:

And you can use RMAN to report on expired backups and delete obsolete. If a Veritas job fails or some other problem with the MML is taking place, having a cron remove files based on a date criteria may result in having logs deleted that have not been cataloged yet.
Thank you for all.All the informations are very helpful.I will keep the archive logs for a week,and delete the files by RMAN.
