thanks in advance

First, Oracle 9i is no longer supported, you should be using 11g, if you are learning:

Did you read the 9i install directions carefuly?

Your hostname is the registry for Windows. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\Tcpip\Hosts\Host Name

>> i had given my username and password both as "ajay" during the installation.

Then that should work, If not, try a default username, SYS and CHANGE_ON_INSTALL.
