Hi,

I need a comparison between Oracle and MaxDB.

We would be migrating from the current MaxDB database to Oracle 10g soon.

But before that we need to compare Oracle and MaxDB in terms of

- performance
- high availability
- OS
- unicode
- backup

Can anyone help me in this.

Thanks,
Rushabh

Hi Rushabh,

MaxDB is not even in the same league as Oracle.

You are unlikely to find any of the specs you want, because so few people use MaxDB.

As for Oracle, properly optimized:

- performance - Holds many TPC world records for performance

- high availability - Guaranteed 100% available (when using RAC)

- OS - Run on every OS you can name

- unicode - Nope, compiled

- backup - Oracle RMAN is a very robust & flexible backup manager

If you need to ramp-up fast, try the "Easy Oracle" books:

Hi Sir,

I myself know that there is no comparison between Oracle and MaxDB.

But my organisation asked me to point out the differences.

So asked for help.

Thanks a tone for your support.

Rushabh
