Hi,

I have recently "inherited" a 9i RAC that has been without an Oracle DBA for about 2 years. We will be moving the datafiles from the existing SAN (600GB) to a new SAN (3TB).

As I am fairly new to the whole RAC experience and without any real mentors available, I have a few questions before we move the files:

1. Would I be able to move the files onto ASM (the current SAN is OCFS I think)?
2. What would be the best way to move the files with minimal downtime?

The 9i RAC currently serves an online reporting portal with updates and reports being done 24/7/365.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

well you are going to have sometime - unavoidable

id restore a backup to the new environment and create it as a standby, apply the logs over time till ou are ready to switch over, then open the standby and update any apps to point at that database.

Won't be much downtime if well planned
