hi!!!!
i have crated a database link easily with the other database but problem is about date format matching.....actualy i wana match a date of one data base with the start and end date of the other database and on this base i wana pick a record......
the date format in one database is this 31-OCT-2008 and in other is this 2/1/2008
please help me

OK, which do you want to use? READ THIS:

OK, adjust the NLS_DATE_FORMAT parms to match. READ THIS CAREFULLY:

In each init.ora (or spfile) change NLS_DATE_FORMAT='dd-mon-yyyy';
