I am a system manager for several VMS systems supporting Oracle databases.
System monitors are showing performance degradation due to fragmentation,
window turns and split IO's.

Since Oracle manages it's own disk allocation, I assume VMS would not know
about the Oracle fragmentation and is complaining about non Oracle managed
files. If this is the case can I safely defrag these files?

Any expert Oracle/VMS dba's out there who could shed light?

thank you,

Doug
