All,
I am trying to get a Remedy installer to connect with the DB to install the application.

SQLPlus
As a preliminary test I tested the connection using SQLPlus from the Remedy server.
Without appending the pw with @sid the connection failed (ERROR:ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error)
PW with @sid connects

Remedy Installer
The issue is that the application installer does a validation check and it fails.
Without the @sid it validates but then fails when its time to connect.
With the @sid the installer validation fails.

Any thoughts on how to connect to the DB (SQLPlus or application installer) without using the @sid would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Pete

Hi Pete, snd welcome to the forum!

First, is a remedy server a third party thing?

If you can connect to sqlplus without the Sid then you should be able to use that technique anywhere!

What do you mean that "it validates" but later rejects?

Could this be a non-oracle issue?

You can get around the requirement to specifying the Sid in the connect string by setting your environmental variables:

See here, this may help:

http://www.dba-oracle.com/oracle_news/2006...asy_connect.htm

Also see there on the Ora-12560 error:

http://www.dba-oracle.com/t_ora_12560_tns_...apter_error.htm

Let me know if this does not solve your issue.

Good luck!
