Hi experts,

I'm sure some of you have experience with encrypted tablespaces - please can you share you knowledge about replication of encrypted db?.. Normally I use rman DUPLICATE to do database refreshes but it fails when database is encrypted.

My db is 11.2.0.4 Enterprise Edition. Please let me know if more details are needed.

Thanks a lot in advance,
Galina

Hi Dolnald,

thanks a lot for your reply. probably, I was not very clear - it's not BACKUP encryption I'm after (this is OK - have it working already, used your notes too wink.gif .

Now we decided to encrypt the DATABASE (user tablespaces to be exact) rather than backup. Did that but found that I can't replicate the database; I normally use rman duplicate to do the database refreshes (e.g. production into test etc) - its fails when I try it on encrypted db.

Regards,
Galina

Hi Donald, Happy New Year )))

Tried to attach a *.doc file with some information but the upload failed - 'you are not permitted to upload this type of file'. Is there any other way to send it to you?..

RMAN restores controlfile into the correct location and then fails on the encrypted tablespaces with RMAN-05001: auxiliary file name ... conflicts with a file used by the target database

Thanks,
Galina
